What is holacracy?

Holacracy is a new way of working that replaces rigid management structures with flexibility and shared responsibility. Instead of managers making decisions for you, you have full ownership of your role and the authority to act within it.

Rules

Roles, not job titles

You have multiple dynamic roles based on your strengths and interests, rather than a fixed job description.

Decentralised decision-making

Decentralised decision-making

No waiting for approval from a manager—you have the authority to make decisions in your area of expertise.

Rules-1

Clear rules, full freedom

Everything that is forbidden is explicitly written down in the Holacracy Constitution and Glassfrog—if it’s not forbidden, it’s allowed.

Structure

Structured but flexible

Regular meetings keep teams aligned while allowing continuous iteration and improvement.

How We Work at Luscii

Where freedom meets impact

meeting

Hierarchy is great for controlling large groups of people and maintaining predictability and repeatability. But that’s not how we work. Pyramids are for mummies.

We hire the best people and trust them with the freedom to make decisions within their expertise. That means:

  • Flat structure: No managers, just clear roles and responsibilities. Everyone has a voice and real impact.
  • Autonomy & accountability: You own your work, make decisions, and take full responsibility for delivering results.
  • Transparency & collaboration: Clear roles, open policies, and structured meetings keep us in sync—without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Freedom to act: The golden rule of Holacracy? Everything is allowed unless explicitly forbidden.

Working in a Holacratic structure means embracing both freedom and responsibility. It can feel exciting, challenging, and even a little scary at first, but we’re all here to help each other grow and succeed. Every new team member receives thorough Holacracy training, and after a few months, it feels completely natural.

Freedom to Work

Freedom to work your way

You know when and where you work best. As long as your work gets done and aligns with your team’s needs, you have the freedom and responsibility to organise your time effectively.

That flexibility works both ways—when urgent fires need putting out, we expect our team to step up and help out. But working overtime should never be the norm. If you (or someone else) is stuck in crunch mode for too long, raise a tension so we can solve it together.

Transparency, honesty, and helping each other get better is what makes Luscii’s culture thrive.
